The place I consider home would have to be my grandparent’s house. I lived there until I was five, when my mom and I moved in with my step-dad into a small apartment nearby. When I was six we transferred to California for a little over two years. My mom had my first little brother there. The four of us moved to a house in Crest Hill for almost a year, then moved up north to Rolling Meadows for nearly two years. A Substitute?

I've just finished rinsing the last of the suds off my body. The warm water runs through my hair down my back. I stand there, waiting for something. Thinking. I turn the heat up. I take a deep breath and turn it all the way. I might be crying because the water hurts. I might be crying because of what I'm thinking about. I might not be crying at all. The water burns down my face, to my neck. It burns my back and my front. I take another few deep breaths and just stand in the rain of heat. It starts to turn cold. I've used up all the hot water. I turn the shower off and grab my towel. I leave the bathroom in search of a sharp object.

"Did you see the register guy checking you out?" My tall, dark-skinned friend gleefully whispered. I, her shorter, paler companion, raised an eyebrow. "Celeste, we came here for coffee and books, not for you to hook me up." Celeste laughed, "Oh I know, but he's really hot." "Then why don't you go talk to him?" The dark girl looked thoughtfully toward the register, "You know, I think I will." She downed her hot cocoa and tossed it in the trash next to her. I just rolled my eyes. "Have fun. Long Time No Devious Doings [of any kind]

It's been a few months since I updated my journal, and it's been even longer since I added a new deviation. I just finished deleting almost all of my old journal entries, it took forever. I'm doing some cleaning up. Out with the old, in with the new. Goodness knows I need it. I read through some of the oldest entries... It was weird. As I was reading I was remembering, but I felt like I was remembering someone else's life. SO many things have changed in the last few years, both internally and externally.
